Drumbeats Wins 2010 Bill Ritchie Handicap Ahead of Kenny’s World & Captain Sonador

September 27th, 2010

On Saturday as part of the action of Randwick’s George Main Stakes Day, Peter Snowden’s impressive galloper Drumbeats claimed victory in the $125,000 Group 3 Bill Ritchie Handicap (1400m).

Drumbeats started the 2010 Bill Ritchie Handicap as the $3.90 favourite as they were coming off a gallant third to star mare More Joyous, who took out the marquee race on Saturday winning the Group 1 George Main Stakes, in the Theo Marks Stakes.

Drumbeats is now the favourite to win The Metropolitan this Saturday through SportsBet

The crack Redoute’s Choice five-year-old lived up to expectations running away to claim a comprehensive two and a half length win over Kenny’s World ($9.50) with Captain Sonador ($7) a mere nose further away for third.

It was another eye-catching performance by Graeme Murray’s Kenny’s World, the gelding having claimed two upset wins earlier this season including their victory in the Cameron Handicap.

Drumbeats has now won three of their 15 career starts earning $459,225 in prize money and firmed into the $6.50 favourite to win this Saturday’s Epsom Handicap at Sportsbet following their success in the Bill Ritchie.
